Happy new Year From all at Little Ruggers

Welcome to 2012. We hope that everyone had a fantastic Christmas and that Santa got you all everything you wanted.

Just to remind everyone classes start back this weekend at the usual times on both Saturday 7th January and Sunday 8th January.

We look forward to seeing you all back and ready to learn some more rugby and team play whilst having lots of fun.

We are  currently working on our online shop and hopefully we will have a functioning online store, where you can make orders for your goods and pay online, which should make the whole process more straight forward. In the meantime please contact Jas with your orders for merchandise.

Thank you all for making 2011 a great year for Little Ruggers, it has been great fun and rewarding seeing all those happy smiling faces every weekend.

We are delighted to be offering various Little Ruggers items for Sale which can be found in the shop or by clicking here.

We expect the Little Ruggers hoodies to be very popular this year and we can provide them in Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Baby Blue, Pink, Red, Black, Ash Grey, Orange and Burgundy,  so please let us know what colour you want.

To ensure that everyone receives there items before christmas we will require all orders in for December 3rd at the latest to ensure that you will receive them before christmas.

It has been decided to freeze the prices for the coming year so you will be paying the same as you did last year. This has been decided because we understand that in these times of recession that family budgets can be strained.

Thank you to everyone who has paid for the coming term, however we still have some outstanding invoices so if everyone could ensure these are paid as soon as possible that would be fantastic. We would like these paid before the start of the new term as we have waiting lists on some of the classes and thus we can offer these places to them.

We now run classes at Letchworth on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Some of these classes are full now but some classes still have a few places left so please contact us now to get yourself booked in for a trial lesson as soon as possible as we do not expect these places to be open for very long.

Having started our Saturday classes in Royston just before the summer holidays we still have spaces in both Puma and jaguar classes, so please contact us as soon as possible and book yourself a trial lesson as soon as possible.

Our classes in Welwyn are proving very popular indeed, so much so that we will be adding another puma class for Saturday mornings due to having many children on a waiting list. Therefore this has opened up some more spaces for both Puma and Jaguar classes so if you are on the waiting list then please get in contact and book a trial lesson as soon as possible.

New classes planned. Due to the demand for classes during the weekdays we will starting classes at the following locations.

Biggleswade

Letchworth

Hatfield

Baldock

Stevenage

If you would like to get on the waiting list for any of these locations for classes during the week, please get in contact as soon as possible and as soon as we have atleast 4 children we will commence the class. Also if you live anywhere surrounding these areas and think that you could get enough interest in our classes then please contact us and we will be happy to consider starting classes there also.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, children and coaches that have all contributed to make Little Ruggers the success it has been thus far.

A final reminder is that the new term starts back on Saturday 10th September 2011 and Sunday 11th September 2011. We look forward to seeing all the smiling happy and refreshed children and parents.

We would like to thank everyone for making this season for Little Ruggers as successful as it has been this year. We have seen children gain in confidence and excell at the basics of rugby. It has been amazing seeing children that were initially reluctant to join in now are now confident and taking part fully in team games.

Little Ruggers coach James Tirrell appeared on Friday night playing for Wasps in the J. P Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series at Franklin’s Gardens Northampton, the home of the Northampton Saints.

James made a very strong impact when he came on against Saracens in the first game. Unfortunately James suffered a dead leg and that is why he was limping on Saturday at Little Ruggers at Letchworth.

Little Ruggers Coach James Tirrell

We are very excited and pleased to announce that Little Ruggers coach James Tirrell has been selected to play for the sevens invitational side Apache Rugby Club at the flagship Middlesex Sevens tournament at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 9^th July 2011. James is a sevens specialist and has played for England as a sevens player and some of the top sides in Europe including Samurai and the Gilbert Pups.

Though you will probably not see him at Little Ruggers this Saturday, you can still see him on the television. The Middlesex Sevens will be shown live on Sky Sports 3 and to get a clearer picture of James, channel 418 Sky Sports HD3  starting at 10.30am.

The Middlesex Sevens is the premier sevens tournament in the UK. Apache have played in all the major tournaments around the world including Dubai and Rome and are now  firmly established as a ‘core’ invitation side in the UK National Sevens Series.

James will be playing in the first game of the day against the British Army who have a formidable history in the Middlesex Sevens, so its possibly the toughest game to start the day with. The coverage will be on all day so when you get back from Little Ruggers the tune in and you may see James score some tries himself.

The schedule for the Middlesex Sevens is as follows:

11.10 Match 3: Wooden Spoon v White Hart Marauders

11.30 Match 4: Social Vibe ‘Vipr’ Pups v Barking

This event will be televised all day so tune and watch out for James live on TV.

Little Ruggers Scoring Tries

As you are aware we are running a name the logo and colouring competition to name Chaser’s twin. We ran a similar competition at Letchworth and it was decided to call the Letchworth Lion Logo ‘Chaser’. As their are two Lions we would like some help in choosing the name of the Welwyn Lion logo.

We have had some great entries already however not everyone has returned their entries yet. The closing date for entries is Saturday July 16th. The Prize giving will be the last lesson before the summer term on Saturday 23rd July.

So if you have not done so already please get your entries in as soon as possible because Chaser’s twin needs a name.

We are pleased to inform you that we now have a definite location for our Welwyn classes, which will be starting on Saturday 26th March 2010.

The new location is Welwyn St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School. We are very pleased to have secured this location, which is conveniently located in the village of Welwyn.

If you have not booked then please do so as soon as possible as places are almost completely booked up.

There will be no lessons on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February because of half term. We will be back on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March. Classes for Saturdays after this date will be 15 minutes earlier than previously, please check below. This is because we are adding another Puma class due to demand for another class.

Lion Logo has been named and will be called Chaser.

The judging of the name this competition was a very hard task indeed but we needed to have a winner. It can Now be announced that the name chosen for the the Lion Logo is ‘Chaser’ which was chosen by Samuel Pierson in the Jaguars class on Sundays.

The other prize for the best colouring was again very difficult due to the high standard of the entrants. However one of the entrants stood out. The Winning entry for the colouring in competition Was Erin Peacock who is in the puma class on Saturdays.

A big well done to both Samuel and Erin and we hope you enjoy your prizes.

All our children have done extemely well and have shown considerable improvements in confidence, independance and listening and we fully expect this to continue. It has been encouraging to see children become more confident and independant as the term has gone on. Seeing those keen smiles and looks of enjoyment on the childrens faces has made it all the more of a pleasure.

So well done to everyone you are all stars.

Merry christmas from Little Ruggers

End Of The First Term At Little Ruggers.

This coming weekend (Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th December) is going to be the last before Christmas. Classes will start again on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th January 2011.

This weekends classes will be full of fun, games and prizes.  In addition there will be prizes for the winners of  Name the Lion Logo Competition and the Colouring in Competition. The judging for the competition is proving a very difficult task indeed as we have had some fantastic names and some great colouring in. A Big Well Done to all the children who gave in entries.

We would like to thank all parents and children for making our first term a great success and we look forward to seeing you back in the new year.

As many of you have probably noticed that it has been very cold lately. Unfortunately, in addition to this the heating in the Sports Hall has not been working. We have been assured that the college are in the process of arranging a new heating system to be fitted and this should be completed quite quickly. At this time we cannot be sure of the exact date but could be this week but definitely should be completed by the time we return in the new year. On a positive note it looks like its going to get warmer for the weekend, fingers crossed.

Please note that classes for Saturday 13th November will not be in the college sports hall due to maintenance work being carried out.

Instead the classes will be in the main hall of the college. Its on the same site as the sports hall, however to get there you must bear right instead of left when turning into the college. You will have to follow the signs for the main reception the main hall is by the reception.

There should be someone on hand to direct you to the right place.

Now that we have been going for 2 months we would like your views on what we are doing right and what we can do to make it better.

Your views are very important to us to help us to continuously improve our classes so that both children and parents get the most out of Little Ruggers Session. So please take a few minutes to fill in our feedback form which can be found under the CONTACT US tab or by clicking here.

Heres your chance to play an important part in the history of Little Ruggers. As you can see we have a lion logo at Little Ruggers, unfortunately we cannot think of a name for him/her. Please can you help us choose a name and have a go at colouring it in. The name that is chosen will be the permanent name given for the Little Ruggers lion logo. Two prizes will be awarded for the best name and another for the best colouring in. 

You can download a copy of the entrance form here Little Ruggers Name the logo competition. We will have some to hand out at your next few lessons so do not worry if you have not printed it out.

All entries must be in by Saturday 27th November 2010. There will be 2 prizes one for the name that is chosen and one for the best colouring in. The result will be judged by the coaching panel and prizes will be awarded on the last lesson before christmas which is Saturday 11th December 2010.

Good luck and get thinking of a name as we really do not have an idea of what to call him or is it a she?????

The Little Ruggers Rugby Kits

As You can see above modelled by two current little ruggers the new Little Ruggers kits have arrived. We will be presenting these as children arrive in the morning. The bags and balls will be arriving by next week.

Saturday  was very enjoyable for all of us involved in running the classes and judging by the smiles and laughter it was also great fun for the children. It made it all worthwhile seeing so many happy children learning, some for the very first time, to run, catch and negotiate obstacles with a rugby ball. All the time they are doing this we hope we are instilling a love for the sport of rugby and promoting sport and healthy lifestyles for their future into adulthood, who knows we could have a future International player in our midst.

Due to the success of Saturdays classes we are now looking to add a class on Sunday mornings for which we have created a waiting list and some during the weekdays also. The Sunday classes will be the same time as the Saturday classes and will also be at Hitchin College. Once we have enough children signed up for these we will then contact all those on the waiting list with a planned start date. So if you keen to start as soon as possible and you are on the waiting list then put the word out and hopefully we can get these started sooner.

Membership packs

Each child can expect to receive there Rugby Shirts, Shorts, bag and ball at the latest on Saturday 25th September.

New payment Structure

From January onwards we will be booking classes in blocks of six sessions instead of a whole terms fees up front. For example for one child it will be 6 x 5.50 which is £33 for 6 weeks, hopefully this will make it easier for everyone.
